আমি কেতিয়াবা কেতিয়াবা কোনো বক্তব্যৰ লগত সংক্ষিপ্ত প্রশ্ন সাঙুৰি দিও যাক ইংৰাজীত Question Tag or Tag Question বুলি কোৱা হয়। যেনেঃ

She is a beautiful girl, isn’t she?

He is not brave, is he?

ওপৰৰ বক্তব্য বা বাক্যবোৰৰ লগত কিছুমান question phrase যেনে- ‘isn’t she’; ‘is he’ যোগ কৰা হৈছে। এনেদৰে কোনো বক্তব্যৰ লগত সংক্ষিপ্ত প্রশ্ন সাঙুৰি দিলে Question Tag or Tag Question হয়।

Question Tag or Tag Question কৰাৰ কিছুমান নীতি-নিয়ম আছে, যথা-

Rule No. 1.

কোনো হয়বোধক বক্তব্যৰ লগত Negative Tag আৰু কোনো নহয়বোধক বক্তব্যৰ লগত Affirmative Tag ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়। যেনেঃ

He is well, isn’t he?

He has not said this, has he?

Rule No. 2.

To form a Question Tag the Auxiliary Verb is used and if the Tag is negative, then the shortened form of not as ‘n’t’ is used as in the above written first example.

Question Tag গঠন কৰিবলৈ Auxiliary Verb ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হয়। আৰু যদি Question Tag টো negative তেন্তে ‘not’ ৰ সংক্ষিপ্ত ৰূপ n’t’ লিখা হয়। যেনেঃ

You help him.

You help him, don’t you?

Rule No. 3.

যদি বক্তব্যত কোনো Auxiliary Verbনাথাকে বক্তব্যটোৰ tense আৰু number অনুযায়ী ‘do’, does or ‘did’ ব্যৱহাৰ হয়। যেনেঃ

(i) He goes there.
He goes there, doesn’t he?

(ii) She laboured hard.
She laboured hard, didn’t she?

(iii) You help him.
You help him, don’t you?

Rule No. 4.

যদি বক্তব্যত ‘Need’ আৰু ‘Dare’ Special Finite Verbনহয় বা Auxiliary Verb নহয় তেন্তে Question Tag ‘do’ ব্যৱহাৰ হয়। যেনেঃ

(i) I need to go there. I need to go there, don’t I?

(ii) She dares any problem. She dares any problem, doesn’t she?

Rule No. 5.

‘Used to’ verbৰ লগত Question Tag কৰোতে ‘did’ ব্যৱহাৰ হয়। যেনে-

We used to help each other.

We used to help each other, didn’t we?

Rule No. 6.

বক্তব্যটো যদি Imperative হয় তেন্তে Question Tag ত ‘shall’ / ‘will’ ব্যৱহাৰ হয়। যেনে-

Give me a glass of water.

Give me a glass of water, will you?

Let us have a walk in the morning.

Let us have a walk in the morning, shall we?

N.B. In an Imperative Sentence the Tag Phrase may be either positive or negative as –

Imperative Sentence ত Tag Phrase টো positive বা negative হয়।

Come to see me when you like.

Come to see me when you like, will you?

Or

Come to see me when you like, won’t you?

Rule No. 7.

Semi-negative শব্দ যেনে little, few, scarcely, rarely, seldom আদিয়ে positive tag গ্রহণ কৰে। যেনে-

(i) Little can be had.
Little can be had, can it?

(ii) Few students were absent.
Few students were absent, did they?

(iii) Scarcely had he met me. Scarcely had he met me, had he?

Rule No. 8.

The Singular Pronouns as – Every, Everybody and Everyone take plural tag, as -Singular Pronouns যথা- Every, Everybody and Everyone – আদিযে plural tag গ্রহণ কৰে, যেনে-

(i) Everyone hates him. Everyone hates him, don’t they?

(ii) Everybody respects him.
Everybody respects him, don’t they?

(iii) Every boy comes here.
Every boy comes here, don’t they?
